Meet a few of our honors advisors:
Jackie Bello, Director of Student Services
Jackie Bello comes from a family of teachers, both K-12 and higher ed, and she is thrilled to be supporting students at American Honors as the Director of Student Services. Her background includes education consulting at The Parthenon Group, where she focused on next generation and personalized learning, online higher education, and teacher retention. Previously, as a Teach for America corps member, she taught English in Baltimore at Northwestern High School, where she was named “Teacher of the Year” her first year teaching. Jackie graduated cum laude from Princeton University with an A.B. in Religion, and earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University.
Adrienne Pon, Associate Program Director & Lead Honors Advisor
Adrienne joins American Honors with a background in education, advising, and public policy. She has worked on projects for the Colorado Department of Education, the US Department of Education, and an education advocacy organization in Cape Town, South Africa. While earning her BA, she held two peer-advisor positions and was a residential advisor for 86 undergraduate freshmen. In addition, she held multiple leadership positions in student government, wrote an award-winning honors thesis, and founded a student organization to provide free tutoring to the children of campus residential and dining hall employees. She joins American Honors after working on the National Advance Staff of a presidential campaign, planning and executing over fifteen campaign stops around the country. Adrienne graduated from Stanford University in 2012 with a BA in Public Policy with Honors, Phi Beta Kappa, and with Distinction.
Klara Markus, Honors Advisor
Klara joins the American Honors team after recently graduating with a BA in Political Science from Yale University. She began her academic career at the Honors College at Miami Dade College, where she developed her passion for education, mentoring and service. While at Miami Dade, she was an active member of Phi Theta Kappa, a math-peer tutor, and a coordinator of the college-wide of the Model United Nations team. After transferring, Klara coordinated a mentorship program and was an AmeriCorps volunteering working as a mentor and tutor at Wexler-Grant Elementary School. Her passion for service has also led her to partake in international service trips in Nicaragua and Ukraine, focusing and development and community-building projects. Klara has also lived, studied, and worked abroad in France and Switzerland, where she interned for the United Nations High Commissioner for refugees.
Klara’s journey from community college and beyond fuels her with the desire to expand American Honor students’ horizons, believing that opportunity and collaboration bring forth academic, professional, and personal success.

Designed based on your interests, needs, and input from Ivy Tech Faculty, your ISP is specifically customized to help you successfully negotiate the program and keep you on a steady trajectory toward graduation and transfer to a four-year college or university.
